AFESIP CAMBODIA

Weak law enforcement, corruption, grinding poverty and the fractured social institutions left by the country’s turbulent history has helped earn Cambodia an unwelcome reputation for child trafficking and sexual abuse. With approximately 18.6% of people living below the poverty line, access to education and safe employment opportunities can mean the difference between a person being “re-trafficked” into a life of servitude and one of long-term financial independence.

PROJECT FUTURES has a very special relationship with AFESIP Cambodia. We have supported AFESIP since 2009 and they are our longest standing beneficiary partner.

AFESIP continues its significant impact giving hope to survivors. Key highlights in 2025 include:.

  • 92 (18 new) girls received education whilst staying at the centre, 100 (20 new) girls received education outside of the centre and 24 (7 new) girls received high degree scholarships at university. In total 216 girls received educational scholarships all funded by AFESIP through the generosity of its donor partners.

  • 4 girls had officially graduated with degrees - one bachelor of law, one bachelor of marketing, one bachelor of public and administration and one associate degree.

  • 53 girls were reintegrated to communities at large – 3 with micro business, 17 with job employment, 21 education scholarships, and 12 safely back to their families.

  • Specialise recovery services – 115 girls received healthcare, 120 girls received psychosocial counselling, and 66 girls received legal existence.

  • 73 (18 new) suspects were arrested in 26 alleged perpetrators bought to justice - with jail sentences ranging from 4 years to 15 years
